Surrealist Vision & Techniques, the third of three-part artist workshop series with Vanessa Woods!
In this workshop, participants will be provided glue sticks, paper, scissors and a variety of vintage and contemporary collage material. Surrealism evokes strange, dreamlike imagery and complex psychological allusions, yet the creative methods employed by many surrealist artist couldn’t have been more accessible. Collage was used by the surrealists because it allowed for the creation of uncanny scenarios through the juxtaposition of everyday images. In this workshop, participants will look at the work of surrealist collagists and explore a variety of their techniques. Students will leave the class with several completed collages and inspiration to continue making more!
(Students feel free to bring any magazines/paper ephemera you may have to add to the class collection)
