Mail Art, the first of a three-part artist workshop series with Vanessa Woods!
In this informative workshop participants will look at the work of Ray Johnson and the history of mail art and create a series of dynamic 4 x 6 inch postcard collages, colorful envelopes and mail art of their own to send to friends near and far. Mail art refers to a piece of art sent through the mail rather than displayed in a traditional venue. Following mail art tradition, we will use a variety of accessible, found and recycled materials such as stamps, Xerox copies and collage to create our works. Participants will also have the option of sharing their addresses with one another to exchange some of the mail art they create during our session together. Students will leave the class with a variety of completed mail art pieces and the techniques and motivation to continue making more!
